Anca C. Ferche is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto. Anca received her M.A.Sc. degree from University of Toronto in 2015 and her B.A.Sc. from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 2012.
Anca’s doctoral research is aimed towards better understanding the behaviour of deteriorated concrete structures. During her master studies, Anca collaborated with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) on the numerical modelling and assessment of alkali-silica reaction-affected nuclear structures.
She served as Vice-President of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Student Chapter at the University of Toronto in 2018. In 2012, together with a group of seven students, she received the Degenkolb Structural Innovation Award at the Seismic Design Competition 2012, Memphis, hosted by EERI. She won first prize at the National Student Scientific Session, Cluj-Napoca in 2013 and in 2012.
Her research interests include analysis and performance assessment of deteriorated concrete infrastructure, nonlinear finite element analysis of reinforced concrete structures, advanced constitutive modelling, and alkali-silica reaction effects on the behaviour of reinforced concrete structures.
